10th Assembly

Thank you, members, attendees, sponsors, speakers, and partners for yet another incredible event! We hope that you enjoyed yourselves as much as we did and took valuable information and inspiration back with you to your co-operatives and farms.

Our 10th Annual Assembly: The State of the Local Food System

2019 marks the 10th anniversary of the only conference that brings together leaders from the food co-op sector, farmers and food system activators to share knowledge, build new skills and develop strategies for advancing the local food system. This momentous event will be delivering sector specific workshops, sessions specifically geared towards each type of co-operative, governance, public speaking, member engagement, our troubleshooting sessions, and much more!

The second day of the assembly will be dedicated specifically to exploring how the co-op and local food sector can develop a strategy to address emerging issues within the Ontario system. This is a rare opportunity to collaborate towards a stronger more robust food system in the future.

Social Justice at the Table: a panel discussion on the intersections of local food and social justice

This year’s keynote is a panel discussion regarding social justice in the local food movement. We have a fantastic lineup of speakers from organizations engaging in the local food sector and they will be discussing how they work to further social justice within the context of their work around community, equity, and food. If you cannot make it to our whole conference, you can purchase tickets for just this special evening’s event.

Traveling to the Assembly:

The Ignatius Jesuit Centre is located just off of Highway 6, in Guelph.  Here's a map to help with navigation.

This year, being our momentous 10th Assembly, we have decided to change the structure a little and are having a panel discussion with speakers from across the local food industry including farmers, change-makers, and business owners to local food advocates who are seeing and experiencing the changes in the local food system, particularly in the past 5-10 years.   In addition, we are still hosting our workshops and as well as sessions specifically geared towards each type of co-operative, governance, public speaking, member engagement, our troubleshooting sessions, and much more!
