Online and Virtual: Local Food Networks Using the Oklahoma Cooperative Model

The internet is a powerful platform for convening people, ideas, services, and goods, and has in the past number of years begun to show its potential for supporting local food production and distribution. The Oklahoma Food Cooperative pioneered its unique open source software in 2003, bringing together nearly 4,500 products grown or made in Oklahoma from over 80 Oklahoma producers with consumers through an easy-to-navigate website.
